Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What information are you collecting about me?
A. Our privacy policy can be found here

Q. What’s up with these crazy scoreboard lights turning off and on?
A. When you make a pitch, all of the scoreboard lights will go off as an indicator to the player to be ready. Once the player takes a swing, the lights for inning, balls, strikes and outs will turn back on indicating that the player has taken a swing. If the player gets a hit, he/she has until the score lights turn on to reach a base. In other words, when the score lights turn on, if the player is not on base then he/she will be out.

Q. Why doesn’t my runner continue to run when I tap the run button as fast as I can?
A. The runner’s speed is randomly generated and is not affected by how fast the player taps the run button. When running, keep the run button held down to advance the runner and let go when you reach the base that you want.

Q. How is the strike zone laid out?
A. Home plate is divided into five sections each containing a number of pixels in a vertical line. Hits and outs are determined by what pixels the ball is over when the player touches the hit button. If the player touches the hit button before the ball reaches home plate or after it has completely passed home plate then it is called a strike. The layout of the strike zone over home plate is as follows:
The first section (6 pixels) is an infield out
The second section (6 pixels) is an infield hit
The third/center section (4 pixels) is a home run
The fourth section (6 pixels) is an outfield hit
The fifth section (6 pixels) is an outfield out
So the closer you are to the center of home plate the better!

Q. Why didn’t the app save my points?
A. Crackerjack Baseball only saves points that you earn during certain events such as at the end of an inning, quitting a game or during in-app purchases. Therefore, there is a small chance that on an unreliable network connection you might lose connectivity to our servers and lose earned points.

Q. Sometimes the pitch seems to hesitate and is not smooth to the plate?
A. The delivery of the ball to home plate is a quick and calculated process. It remains smooth on most devices as long as the app is not competing too much for the device’s resources. In other words, if there are other applications running in the background on your device and they are competing for resources, then you may notice some hesitation in the pitch. One of the biggest resource-intense processes that can occur on your device is updating applications. If you see that your device has started updating applications, either let it finish updating or stop it altogether before you play Crackerjack Baseball. This process can really bring your device to a crawl. Older devices with slower hardware can also exhibit this slow, hesitant behavior.

Q. I am no longer receiving push notifications
A. First check to make sure you have notifications turned on by touching “Options” from the Main Menu then ensure “notifications” is “on”. Sometimes simply turning notifications off then back on will work. If this does not work then your unique device token from Google may have expired or become corrupt. Google’s Firebase Cloud Messaging gives out your unique device notification token only during specific times such as the first time you run the app or after the app’s data has been cleared. You can see if you have a valid token by touching “Info” from the Main Menu then touching “About”. If your “FCM token” says “None…” then you do not have a valid token and push notifications will not work for you. You can force a new token to be sent to you by either clearing the app’s data or by doing an uninstall/reinstall of the app. Please keep in mind that either option will clear any personal preferences that you may have set previously. The app data on most Android devices can be cleared by going to Settings, Apps, find Crackerjack Baseball, Storage and Cache, Clear Storage.
