| Breaking News | | Friday, June 15th, 2001: Jeter 5-5 for Kansas City Kansas City third baseman Derek Jeter could do no wrong in today's 8-3 win over the White Sox as he collected 5 hits.
"In every one of his at-bats things were in his favor... he got hitter's counts," the skipper of the White Sox said to the press corps after the game.
Jeter agreed. "The key is getting ahead. Once you get ahead, it makes it a lot easier because you get a better pitch to hit. You know the pitcher has to come in with it. And you're ready."
D. Jeter singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th and singled in the 8th.
Jeter is presently hitting at a .308 pace with 6 home runs, 18 RBIs and has scored 29 times. | | Monday, June 11th, 2001: Radke Whitewashes Milwaukee Before the game Brad Radke liked his chances and his instincts proved to be right. In a superb outing the Royals pitcher whitewashed the Milwaukee Brewers 10-0.
Radke said in the clubhouse afterward, "I just had a feeling it was going to be my day. My control was awesome. I could throw my curveball even when I was behind in the count."
The Kansas City starter held Milwaukee scoreless, giving up 2 hits while registering 6 strikeouts and issuing 1 walk.
"We didn't have very many good at-bats," the Brewers manager said in his postgame interview.
"When that happens, you usually lose."
His record this year is 9-3 in 14 starts and Radke has a 3.50 ERA. | | Friday, April 6th, 2001: Kansas City's Jeter Down with Injury Kansas City fans will be disappointed to learn that Derek Jeter developed a tender elbow while throwing the ball in today's game. After the doctor informed the Kansas City Royals manager that Jeter was expected to miss 2 weeks, the manager told the press that the rest of the team would have to step up their play until the third baseman could return. "You can't make excuses in baseball, because there's always a game tomorrow," said the team's skipper.
So far in 2001 Jeter is batting .500 with no home runs, 1 RBIs and 1 run scored. He has 10 hits in 20 at-bats and a .600 OBP. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 39-32, .549 PCT | | Position in Division | 2nd, 4.0 GB | | Record at home | 22-16, .579 PCT | | Record on the road | 17-16, .515 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 1-3, .250 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 7-12, .368 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 11-11, .500 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 28-21, .571 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 8-2, .800 PCT | | Record in April | 14-14, .500 PCT | | Record in May | 15-13, .536 PCT | | Record in June | 10-5, .667 PCT |
