Monday, June 11th, 2001: Smith Whitewashes Indians
Sometimes even Chuck Smith of Toronto isn't sure which pitcher will show up when he takes the mound.

"I've been good sometimes and bad sometimes," he said. This time he looked good and made the Cleveland Indians look bad, blanking them by the score of 5-0.

Smith tossed a 4-hit shutout against them, totaling 3 strikeouts and giving up 3 walks.

In 2001 Smith has compiled a 6-5 record with a 3.29 ERA in 13 starts.
Friday, June 8th, 2001: Career Over for Berkman, Major Injury
The baseball career of Toronto's Lance Berkman abruptly ended today in the game against the Washington Senators at The Skydome. The 25-year-old right fielder sustained a severe injury colliding with a player at a base, suffering a fractured elbow and will not play again.
His doctor described the injury to reporters and said, "On a scale of one to three, it was a four. It was off the chart."

Thus far this season Berkman is hitting .352 with 20 home runs, 53 RBIs and 56 runs scored. He has 75 hits in 213 at-bats and has played in 61 games.
