Monday, May 21st, 2001: Pierre Slams 5 Hits for Detroit
It wasn't just another day at the ballpark for Juan Pierre. It was a very special day, one that many players never experience. But he did. Pierre went on a tear and cracked hit after hit off Washington pitching.

When the dust settled on the diamond at Tiger Stadium, he had a career 5-5 day and something he will long remember. And the Detroit Tigers had a 11-10 victory over the Senators.

"Yeah, it'll be something nice to tell the grandkids, but it won't get me a hit tomorrow," he joked in the postgame interview.

J. Pierre singled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off A. Telemaco in the 7th.

For the season, Pierre is hitting at a .379 clip with 2 home runs, 25 RBIs and has scored 37 runs. He has 67 hits, 21 walks and a .444 on-base percentage.
Wednesday, May 16th, 2001: Tigers Starting Pitcher Injured
After the end of today's game between Detroit and Milwaukee, Mark Buehrle skipped the clubhouse and headed straight for the doctor's office. After he was removed from the game as a precaution after throwing a pitch, the Tigers had their worst fears confirmed when it turned out to be more serious. The starting pitcher will miss at least 2 weeks with back spasms.

In 9 starts this season Buehrle has fashioned a 3-1 record and a 2.83 ERA.
