Thursday, June 7th, 2001: Don Mattingly Gets Hit Number 3000
It was a banner day for Don Mattingly, who collected his 3000th hit in the Cincinnati 5-2 win over Los Angeles. Mattingly went 1-5 in the game as both Reds and Dodgers fans cheered Mattingly, when he reached base after his hit.

"It feels great to get #3000," Mattingly said afterward, "especially since we won the game."

For his career Mattingly has hit at a .301 clip. Among his lifetime numbers are 3000 hits, 825 doubles, 134 triples, 601 home runs and 2047 RBIs.
Sunday, May 27th, 2001: Mattingly Tags Number 600
The Cincinnati Reds had something to celebrate today even though they dropped a 8-6 decision to Chicago (N). The reason -- the splendid slugger Don Mattingly hit his 600th career homer in today's contest at Riverfront Stadium.

"I'm fortunate to be here," Mattingly told the media after the game. "The Reds have a classy organization and some great fans. Homer #600 was for them."

Mattingly has a career .302 batting average with a .386 OBP. He has hit 600 homers, driven in 2042 runs and scored 1965 runs since he came into the league.
Thursday, May 17th, 2001: Star MR Signs Pact with Reds
Media analysts hailed Cincinnati's signing of Felix Rodriguez, one of CJBL's brightest stars, as a pivotal move.

While the deal is certain to raise a few eyebrows, Rodriguez is expected to earn every bit of the $18,750,000 promised him over 5 years.

This season Rodriguez has made 19 relief appearances and saved 1 games. His record is 2-0 with 22 strikeouts in 17.1 innings with a 2.08 ERA.
